The Challenge
A Tier 1 coal mining customer using PPK’s Driftrunner utility vehicles faced persistent breakdowns caused by contaminated fuel. The issue was made worse by the low-positioned fuel cap, often submerged in transit, and the damp, dusty underground environment.
Conventional FuelActive units could not be installed due to the tank design and positioning, requiring a new engineering approach to solve the problem.
The Solution
Working from detailed engineering drawings of the tanks, FuelActive’s design team developed a side-mounted unit that retained its patented floating pick-up. This ensured the engine drew only the cleanest fuel from just below the fuel line, avoiding water and contaminants at the base of the tank.
After installation, the first Driftrunner vehicle was tested extensively in underground mining conditions, proving the system as a practical and reliable fix.

The Benefit
