The Challenge

As a leading UK plant hire company, Lynch needed solutions that could support ambitious carbon-reduction targets while also tackling on-site reliability challenges.

The fleet’s sensitive Euro 6 machines were vulnerable to fuel contamination and AdBlue-related issues, causing unexpected downtime for customers.

At the same time, Lynch was committed to continuous improvement, looking for marginal gains in efficiency that could make a big impact when scaled across hundreds of machines. 

The Solution

To verify performance, Lynch ran a six-month trial on 10 Bell B30E articulated dump trucks. Five units were fitted with FuelActive, while five were left standard. 

All variables — routes, loads, cycles, and payloads — were tightly controlled. OEM telemetry captured 960 data points and more than 4,800 operating hours, providing robust, real-world data for comparison.

The Benefit

The FuelActive-equipped machines averaged a 3.6% fuel saving while operating under identical conditions. This equates to a projected £370,000 annual fuel saving and 970 tonnes of CO₂ removed from Lynch’s ADT fleet alone. 

Crucially, fuel contamination issues disappeared. By drawing only the cleanest diesel from the tank, FuelActive prevented stoppages from water or debris, reducing costly downtime and keeping projects on track. For Lynch, the system proved itself as both a sustainability win and a customer service advantage.
