The Challenge
FuelActive worked with Northern to fit the CAF 195 Civity DMUs with a specially designed floating pick-up system. Unlike conventional systems that draw fuel from the bottom of the tank, FuelActive consistently delivers up to 92% cleaner fuel to the engine.

The Benefit
By reducing contamination at the source, FuelActive has protected key components, lowered maintenance costs and cut emissions. Tests on the CAF 195 DMUs showed the system to be four times more effective in reducing filter contamination.
FuelActive reduced contamination by 82.5% in pre-filters and 66.8% in secondary filters compared with a conventional pick-up pipe. Across the full filtration system, contamination fell by 1.727 grams, or 82.2% overall. For Northern, this means greater fleet availability, lower ownership costs and measurable sustainability gains.
