Independent SGS testing shows FuelActive delivers up to 85% cleaner fuel with fewer contaminant particles
Independent testing conducted by SGS Peru has demonstrated FuelActive’s ability to reduce the amount of contaminant particles and water drawn from diesel fuel.
The testing was commissioned by FuelActive distribution partner VIXORA, a Ferreycorp S.A.A. company, to independently assess the technology’s performance under controlled conditions designed to represent demanding mining and heavy-equipment applications.
Proven results
- Testing found that FuelActive delivered:
- Up to 85% fewer contaminant particles
- Up to 36% less water in the fuel
- A sustained average reduction of 58% in contaminant particles
- A sustained average reduction of 16% in water
SGS is a global leader in testing, inspection and certification. Its independent involvement provided rigorous third-party validation of FuelActive’s ability to help prevent contaminants at the bottom of a fuel tank from reaching the engine.
How the testing was conducted
SGS Peru tested FuelActive using a controlled, closed-loop unit incorporating two diesel recirculation lines. One line was fitted with the FuelActive system, identified as “S”, while the other used a conventional fixed fuel pick-up, identified as “C”.
The system was filled with 15 litres of diesel before 0.5 litres of water was added. The mixture was manually stirred to distribute the contamination throughout the system.
A baseline sample was collected at minute zero to establish the initial fuel condition. Further samples were then taken from both lines at 15-minute intervals, allowing their performance to be compared directly over time.
Samples were collected from the return hoses in clearly labelled 500 mL containers. Solid contamination was measured using a specialised particle counter, while trace water content was determined using an automatic coulometric Karl Fischer instrument.
This controlled methodology enabled SGS to assess fuel cleanliness accurately and consistently across both fuel pick-up systems.
“FuelActive delivers measurable results, validated by an independent third party under controlled conditions simulating real mining and heavy machinery operations.”

Cleaner fuel, better-protected equipment
The results showed that FuelActive supplied significantly cleaner fuel than a conventional pick-up, recording up to 85% fewer contaminant particles and up to 36% less water. Across the testing period, average reductions of 58% for particles and 16% for water were sustained.
Keeping particles and water away from the fuel system can help protect sensitive components such as pumps and injectors, extend filter life and reduce unplanned maintenance. Cleaner fuel also supports reliable engine performance, greater equipment availability and lower operating costs.
For businesses operating mining equipment, heavy machinery and other critical diesel-powered assets, the independently validated findings provide further evidence of FuelActive’s ability to improve fuel-system protection at the source.
